'Guarantor' Anthony Smith undeterred by past humiliation

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Anthony Smith was in high spirits after the Steelers almost clinched a playoff spot by defeating the St. Louis Rams. Anthony Smith in a post game media interview suggested that the Steelers had bounced back from the beat down by Patriots, where Smith after guaranteeing a win over the Patriots was disgraced and humiliated in a fashion unseen before in the NFL.

A confident Smith then shocked the media by guaranteeing a Super Bowl win for the Steelers. On being reminded that the Steelers had just lost franchise running back Willie Parker for the season, a visibly agitated Smith told the media that even though his previous guarantee of a win over the Patriots had made him the laughing stock of the NFL, he has learnt in life to never back down from raising the ante when the whole world is laughing at him. Smith also guaranteed that irrespective of the result of his guarantees, he will continue to give even more outlandish guarantees.

Les Miles gotta job to do

Les Miles in a hastily called press conference while sobbing hyterically, categorically denied that he has any interest in bolting to Michigan from LSU in the wake of Rich Rod becoming the new head coach at Michigan. Said Miles, "I am not a candidate for the Michigan Coaching job. I have a National Championship game to prepare for and I urge the reporters to leave me alone because even if Michigan starts having second thoughts about Rich Rod as they have to pay $4 million for a buyout and put up with the defensive co-ordinator from West Virginia, I will not leave LSU. This is a damn good team I am coaching right now." In a bold move, at the end of the press conference, Les Miles looked at the sole camera covering the conference and made a 'call me' hand sign for ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit.
